OUR BUILDINGS STORY

WHY IS BERWICK-UPON-TWEED?

This specially created Berwick 900 guided walk was part of the Berwick Walking Festival on 13th April 2015, exploring the geology that has made Berwick and its buildings

Our Heritage Open Days weekend in September provided the opportunity to visit a wide range of historic buildings and sites in Berwick, Tweedmouth and Spittal that are not always open to the public.

More than a dozen venues were open at various times during the weekend including the Gunpowder Magazine, Old Town Gaol, Masonic Hall, an 18th century salmon-fishermen’s shiel and an ice-house from the great days of the trade in Tweed salmon by sea from Berwick to London.
